Ready To Go - A hair donation 2 1/2 years in the making
You can read more about Locks Of Love here:http://www.locksoflove.org.
September of 2004, I decided that I wanted to give a lock of my hair to Locks of Love. My daughter had given a lock of her beautiful hair that year, and she inspired me to go on a donation adventure. A great many people need real human hair to fit hair prosthetics and hairpieces. From the LocksOfLove website: "Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis."
My journey began in 2004, with lots of days of scraggly-looking hair and lots of bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I wanted to make sure that the recipient of my hair would get well-cared-for hair. I grew my hair for more than two years, and the pictures above are of the end result.
April 3, 2007 was the day of my donation.
At the hair salon
Ready to go in and get my hair cut.
I've tied up my hair with my favorite "pony ties" that I had used over the past couple of years - completing the circle.
The lock is cut off, now for the first hair cut in years!
My hair's cut, and my pony locks are nicely tied up and sealed in their baggy... ready to mail to Locks Of Love!
